I know it has been a while since I have blogged if that is the correct word. :-) But as I sat here about to get ready for service at church tonight I was compelled to share something at the end of 2010. As I take a moment to look back for a moment I know this year has brought many changes not all good. But because of the relationship that I have with Jesus helps me to know without a doubt I never would have made it without him. So I say to all of you who takes a few minutes of your time to read this.. I encourage you to do what Philippians 3:14 says, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus! We must forget the things which are behind, so as not to be content with past labours or present measures of grace. We must reach forward stretched ourselves forward towards where He is directing us through His Word. We who run this race, must never stop short of the end, but press forward as fast as we can. So, as God blessings us with another year lets not take Him for granted nor the merciful and gracious love He gives us. Eternal life is the gift of God, but it is in Christ Jesus. I pray that as you delight yourselves in the Lord in the New Year that He blesses you with the desires of your heart. I hope that your heart desire is to be closer to Him. May the Lord bless you and your family with a blessed New Year!

Naturally Me!

I feel so free and excited about the new milestone in my hair journey! I finally did the BC on May 21, 2010! Remembering when I began this journey in December of last year I was sure of this journey the Spirit had led me too. Over these 5 1/2 months I have learned a lot of things about myself and it was from the inside out. I watched as God strip away my vanity, worrying about what people would say and even contending with myself worth at not doing the one thing that I thought was so important to me for years. It's just awesome when you truly let go and let God!

I must share this one story that occurred on my journey to the BC. I had a consultation with this lady who specialize in natural hair as I'm going in thinking( it was around three months in) oh I'm ready to do the BC and get this over now. Well it really was an eye opener for me she immediately let me know that you can't hurry this journey because it's a spiritual journey and there are things that has to be worked out and it's gonna be a process. She told me this is not totally about your hair it more than you understand right now. You will continue your journey and remember to stop allowing outer to control what the inner has to do in your life right now. This is not a fad but a life changing moment. I must say I was very disappointed but as I type this I realized that she was so RIGHT! I'm so glad to know that it wasn't just another consultation but it was another way that I was being strengthened on my hair journey.

As I sit here tonight words cannot communicate how I am feeling on the inside about this journey to being naturally me. When I was in the process of having it cut off it was like a weight was lifted off and I became free from the bondage that I had been in for so long. I'm confident to say that I was fearfully and wonderfully made by my heavenly father and just so thankful that self was denied in order to get to this very place in my life. I am not my hair I am the soul that lives within!

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psalm 139:14-15

Washing My Hair

I must say when I think about the title of this post it seems so elementary but for me tonight it feels like a washing of my soul, fears and doubts. I'm sitting here feeling like a kid and just wanting to run and scream at the top of my voice. Well before I begin to get ahead of myself let me begin at the beginning of this wonderful experience. I have as you all know been transitioning from "relaxed" hair back to my natural God-given beautiful hair. While going through this transition I was constantly thinking about how am I going to take care of my hair since I have always been a "salon" girl never really taking the time to wash or do much to my own hair. So from the beginning I still have been going to the salon just to get my hair wash but I realize now that is not a great ideal since they really don't fully understand or want to accept this change. I want get into much detail but the last trip my eyes was really opened by some statements that were made to me. Enough about that but I will say it was motivating enough for me to step out on a new path on this journey.

So, I know you wondering what has me so joyful?! Washing My Hair!

I washed my hair in the shower! I didn't have to worry about a shower cap and getting my hair wet! This was so exhilarating and it felt so freeing! It was like I was given a another view to what I have been missing being trap in my "relaxed" world. It was like I was being released and finally realizing that I no longer have to be afraid of my hair getting wet. I'm even more grateful and thankful for my hair journey and I really can't wait to share more of my renewing, freeing and exciting firsts that I'm just beginning to experience.

I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!

I will have to start by saying that I truly believe that God has begun a new transformation in my life. It began in the middle of last year. At the time I didn't understand it but I refused to lean to my understanding instead I chose to walk by faith. This journey is new, scary and terrifying but at the same time I'm willing to say to Him here am I Lord lead me and guide me into the woman you desire me to be. I also realize when you make a statement like that God begins to strip away all the things you believe you need to have in order to exist. He begin to break away all those things that the world says I need to be a beautiful black woman.

Your probably wondering and saying to yourself that this lady has lost her mind. I must say that I agree with you I have lost MY mind and put on the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16) As I began my spiritual journey into becoming this woman that God is transforming me into I had no ideal that part of this journey would be letting go my relaxed hair. Yes, He has put me on the path of transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair. The reason why I say He put me on the path because this is something that I never thought about nor ever talked about. I must say that when you truly let go and let God you will find out that He is Sovereign and can do what He wants with whom He wants whenever He gets ready. I'm living proof of that everyday! (Revelation 1:8)
So, now you know that I am on my spiritual hair journey don't feel sad for me because I am at peace within myself . (Philippians 4:7) At this point I have been transitioning for about two months and it really feels awesome. I must say this is not a journey to take lightly and not to be done because you see someone else doing it because it has to be done for the right reasons. It must not be mistaken for this must be in-style I should do it. No, you must be led to this journey and it must begin inside.
I've had some bumps on this journey but I'm most grateful to be able to say it wasn't me wanting to go to the salon but the people who are close to me that keep asking what are you doing? Why haven't you gotten your hair done? Why are you doing this? My favorite is: their mouths open in disbelief because they just don't understand. I say to them now don't try to understand just do as God does for all of us and just love me unconditionally, pray for my strength and wait and see what the end is gonna be.

In closing,I will say that Psalms 139:14 is what God has given me on this journey to keep me focus on Him and His wonderful works. I realize now that God wants me to accept myself just as he created me and know that I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

The Time to Love

I wanted to share this post with you via my Pastor. This is something He has given us to meditate over to consider what True love really is.

There is a great misconception in the ideal that February is the month for love, but now is the time for the whole truth. 1 John 4:7 informs us that love is of God and we are to love one another, not just in February. John 13:34, Christ tells us to love each other as He loves us and February can`t contain this kind of love. 1Thes 4:9 tells us that we learn how to love from God, our Teacher and we can`t learn it all in February. Matt 22:39 commands us to love people as we love ourselves, and I surely love myself more than just in February. So lets all put love on=Col 3:14. Follow love=1Cor 14:1. Abound and Increase in love=1Thes 3:12. Be sincere in love=Rom 12:9, 2 Cor. 6:6 and 1John 3:18, and make sure love continues forever and ever past February=Heb 13:1. God bless and keep us all by His Love=JOHN 3:16 and aren't you glad that He didn't just do it in February!!!

Why " Agape" Red Velvet Homemade Bundt Cake?

As I was thinking about all the many things, gifts, flowers and candy that will be offered for next month I felt it was appropriate for us to really take a look at love from a divine perspective. So many times we are overwhelmed by commercial love, but I am inspired by the Spirit of God to reintroduce love (Agape) as demonstrated by Jesus death, burial and resurrection. This love was selfless, unconditional and everlasting. (But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8)

As apart of this divine revelation I was lead to create this bundt cake that will truly stand for what love means to me. Now your asking the question why "Agape" Red Velvet Bundt Cake? Glad you asked! My answer is that the shape of the cake represents the never ending love of God and the color represents the blood that was shed for the remission of our sins. I hope that when you order this cake or send it to someone you truly love you will be reminded the way God has truly love us. You will be reminded of the love we have received. I will leave you with this food for thought the extent to which we surrender ourselves as vessels, granting him permission to fill us with his life and his love, allowing him to change us into his likeness to that extent, and that extent only, will we be able to love with true agape love.

And if we can have faith in him, if we can surrender, we can then pray trust for our friend's joy, self-assured in the wisdom that God is going to carry out all our needs (not all our wants), and we don't have to count on a person to do it. We can say with our entire being, "I love you, and there are no strings attached. I just want to be here to support you in whatever way you and the Lord need me to. I want to pray for you, share your burdens and be committed in your life because I love you, but I'm not looking for anything from you. I honestly and truly want to see you joyful and fulfilled." That is the calling of agape love. That is assisting rather than being assisted, and loving rather than being loved.

As I close out I just want to share with you the definition of Agape. Agape love as revealed in Jesus, seen as spiritual and selfless and a model for humanity. Love that is spiritual, not sexual, in its nature.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:7

New Homemade Bundt Cake: "Flavorful Bundt "

Well I have been busy testing and working on new Homemade bundt cakes flavors. As of today we have a new one to offer. I'm most excited about this new bundt because I certainly believe it will be one that's capable of becoming a part of our "signature" class. Our new cake is call "Flavorful Bundt" it is made with your choice of three flavors. I remember when I was growing up and my paternal grandmother would be in the kitchen baking and I would never see her using measuring spoons when adding the flavors to her cakes. I took a chance one day and I asked my grandmother (Mama Dell) why your not using measuring spoons? She turn to me and said to me I can feel it in my spirit when just the right amount has been put in. I certainly didn't question her any more that day about her techniques but as I venture out on this journey that God has planned for me I too can attest to grandmother's method. Because I too can just feel when just the right amount of flavor has been added. Often when that happens it always bring me back to that wonderful memory of that day talking to my grandmother in her kitchen. She has gone on to glory but I certainly believe that she is right there with me in my kitchen looking on smiling at me and encouraging me to just feel it in my spirit!

Why bundt cakes to die for and words to live by?

I have asked myself that question a few times since stepping out on faith with this business and ministry. Over the years I have heard numerous people say always follow your passion and you will never want to turn around or quit. I have always loved baking started with cookies, brownies,other little treats. But nothing brought me so much joy than baking bundt cakes. It's kinda amazing my mother taught me how to make my signature bundt cake and now she calls and ask me to bake it for her. Well of course I took the the recipe and added my own little secret ingredients and made it my own. Then I started baking them for various events in the church and people gave me really great encouragement. I remember one time this elderly woman came up to me and said, "I know you didn't bake this cake because this cake taste like a older mother baked it." I was definitely grateful for her encouragement. So, It got me to thinking about starting a business of baking and selling my signature cake. I was always discouraged or maybe just afraid and I realize now that was just fear. We all know that fear does not come from God because in the Word it states, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear. I realize to not have fear we must apply the Word of God to our lives, situations and our dreams. Nothing really worth having is easy to get. But with God on our side we can do all things. Because of the great things God had done for me in my life I realize not only do I need to serve the physical but I must serve the spiritual as well. So, I have combined my greatest passion sharing the Word of God with my other passion baking bundt cakes so I will be able to serve the whole person. I hope you will take the time to be encouraged, motivated, inspired as I use the gifts that God has given me. So if any of you are reading this and asking yourself why turn around and ask why not step out on faith, why not trust God do the impossible and why not believe all things are possible with God on your side.
